Protect and Restore Your Teeth
Dental crowns are a versatile solution for restoring damaged or weakened teeth. They're like custom-made caps that can:
- Protect: Shield cracked or broken teeth from further damage.
- Restore: Rebuild teeth worn down by years of chewing or grinding.
- Strengthen: Reinforce teeth weakened by decay or root canal treatment.
- Enhance: Improve the appearance of misshapen or discolored teeth.
As you can see, there is overlap in the purpose of crowns. They serve both functional and cosmetic purposes. Tooth crowns are durable and strong, but also very lifelike and attractive. These restorations are a great way to restore weakened teeth while improving the appearance of your smile. Additionally, tooth crowns are a component of a few dental procedures:
- The tooth restoration following root canal therapy
- The tooth restoration atop a dental implant
- As part of a dental bridge
If you are missing teeth or undergo a root canal treatment, then a dental crown may be part of the answer to restoring your teeth. Our experienced team will discuss all of your options with you and help you choose the best ones for your needs!
The Cost of Dental Crowns
Dental insurance oftentimes covers a portion of the cost of a dental crown. When you visit our office, be sure to bring your insurance card along with you. As part of your consultation, we can verify coverage and help you determine what you will need to pay. While the patient is ultimately responsible for the payment, our experienced office staff will work with your insurance provider to determine the amount of coverage for any recommended treatment.
We also offer the option of financing. You are welcome to apply for a payment plan through CareCredit or LendingClub. We can tell you more about both of these options when you visit our office.
The Benefits
Our dentists prefer to use all-ceramic crowns.
Ceramic crowns not only provide durability, but are also very attractive and look like natural tooth enamel. These crowns are matched to the color of your other teeth for a seamless result. Some people prefer to have their teeth whitened before the crown is placed, for a brighter, whiter smile.
Ceramic crowns are long-lasting. Generally, crowns last an average of 8-10 years, but certainly there are many people with dental crowns that have lasted much longer. Good dental hygiene, including visiting the dentist for your routine cleanings and check-ups, may help extend the life of crowns. Like your teeth, a crown can chip or crack if you chew hard objects, like ice, pen caps, or even hard foods that are not cut into smaller pieces.
Same-Day Dental Crown CAD/CAM Technology
Among other advanced technology, our practice features a CAD/CAM machine, which stands for "computer-aided design and manufacturing." This machine digitally scans your tooth. This creates a virtual image upon which we can design the crown. Once completed, the design is sent to a milling machine which fabricates the crown. In some cases, we can scan your tooth and process the crown in the same visit.
